During the month of June, I had the pleasure of visiting Yosemite National park with my mum and my nibling. The three of us spent a quick three days visiting the Sierras. Although we were there at the height of tourist season during an unusually hot streak, we enjoyed two days of exploring the sites.
The Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia has recently been refurbished and renewed, with beautiful walkways, a new visitor center, and comfort facilities. If you are interested in hiking, there are several hikes to choose to walk amongst the trees. We went as far as the Grizzly Giant above which is a whopping 209 feet tall and has a circumference at its base of just over 96 feet.
While I took many photos of the trees, I found that only when there are people in the image do you get a sense of scale. These trees are so tall, that you have to really stand back to fit one in the frame. When you are close to the base of a tree, they are simply breath-taking. If you get a chance to visit Yosemite, be sure to check out the Mariposa Grove. Read more about the grove on the Yosemite Park Website.
